Dr. Alexa Shea
Dr. Shea is a board certified chiropractic sports physician licensed in the state of Massachusetts. She obtained a B.S. in Biology and Anthropology from Brandeis University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Shea earned her Doctorate of Chiropractic from New York Chiropractic College where she graduated with honors and was a member of the Phi Chi Omega Chiropractic Scholastic Honor Society. Her interest in sports medicine has led her to further her post doctorate education by becoming a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician through the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians.
Dr. Shea specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions through evidence based orthopedic care. She is dedicated to treating each patient as a unique individual and provides a customized and tailored treatment plan to each person. She uses a combination of chiropractic adjustments, gentle joint mobilization, manual therapy, facilitated stretching, and exercise and functional rehabilitation to give her patients the best care possible. Dr. Shea is trained in advanced myofascial (muscle and tissue) release techniques including Graston Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Technqiue and motion assisted soft tissue release. She is experienced in treating sports injuries of the spine and extremities, repetitive stress syndromes, pregnancy related pain and postural deficiencies. She also has a special interest in working with women to resolve health and wellness issues. Dr. Shea is an avid runner and hiker and is dedicated to working with athletes of all levels to help them reach their health, wellness, and performance goals. She has enjoyed providing care to athletes at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships, B.A. Let’s Run Summer Race Series in Cambridge, and to competitive Crossfit athletes and coaches at Rugged Crossfit Boston.
